Watch “Why Dunkin’ Donuts Is Failing in India” on YouTube – Link here – One key thing I think they missed out was palate/taste. Breakfast is first meal of the day, so for Indians to shift to something totally new taste would be huge challenge. Just look at stuff Indians have for breakfast – dosa, idli & vada sambhar, parathas , puri & sabji, bhakri, poha, sabudana – taste of all this stuff is on spicy side and that’s what gets our taste buds going. Donuts taste is difficult for first thing in morning given its pretty much sweet, so I have doubt if they can convince people to go there for breakfast. Rather what they can try for time being is changing its positioning to a dessert option after food and place to celebrate special occasion.
